Editorial Guidelines
This page explains who writes Seniors Secrets, how we research and update our articles, and how we handle corrections.
Who writes our content
Seniors Secrets is founded and edited by Khasim Basha Shaik. Khasim researches and edits the articles on this site. He is not a licensed insurance agent, medical professional or financial advisor, and our articles are research and education, not personal insurance, medical or financial advice. If we add contributors or expert reviewers in the future, we will name them and describe their real qualifications on the article.
Our research process
- Primary sources first: we rely on official sources (Medicare.gov, CMS.gov, SSA.gov, NIH, CDC and state agencies) before secondary sources.
- Research for health topics: health information should be based on clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed research, with links so readers can check it.
- Plan details: Medicare plan costs and benefits vary by plan and location. We explain the rules; readers should confirm plan-specific details with Medicare.gov, the plan, or a licensed advisor.
- Dates matter: we state which year’s figures an article uses and avoid publishing numbers we cannot verify.
Keeping content current
- Medicare premium, deductible and drug-cost articles are updated when CMS publishes the next year’s figures (usually in the fall).
- Social Security articles are updated after the annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) announcement in October.
- Health articles are revised when major guidelines change or when a reader or our own review finds something outdated.
- Updated articles show the date of their last update.
Independence and advertising
Seniors Secrets is supported by advertising. Advertisers do not influence what we write, and we do not accept payment from insurers, drug makers, supplement brands or financial firms to recommend their products. Any affiliate relationship will be disclosed clearly, in line with FTC guidelines.
