Editorial Guidelines & Review Process — Seniors Secrets
Seniors Secrets holds itself to strict editorial standards. This page describes how we research, write, review, update, and correct our content.
Who Writes Our Content
All content on Seniors Secrets is written or reviewed by Margaret Collins, MPH, our lead Senior Health Expert and Certified Medicare Counselor. Our Research Process
- Primary sources first: We consult government sources (Medicare.gov, NIH, CDC, SSA.gov, CMS.gov) before any secondary source.
- Peer-reviewed research: Health claims are supported by studies from PubMed, JAMA, NEJM, The Lancet, or other peer-reviewed journals.
- Expert verification: Medicare rules and benefit program details are cross-referenced with official CMS publications and SHIP counselor guidance.
- Current data only: We use the most recent published statistics available at time of writing and note publication dates on all cited studies.
Content Update Policy
Senior health, Medicare, and Social Security information changes frequently. We are committed to keeping our content current:
- Medicare premium and cost articles are reviewed and updated every January when CMS publishes new figures.
- Social Security benefit amounts are updated each January after the annual COLA announcement.
- Drug pricing articles are reviewed quarterly as Medicare negotiated prices are updated.
- Health condition articles are reviewed annually and updated when major clinical guidelines change.
Independence and Transparency
Seniors Secrets is editorially independent. We do not accept payment from insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, supplement brands, or financial services firms to influence our editorial content. Any affiliate relationships are disclosed clearly in accordance with FTC guidelines.
