Who runs Seniors Secrets

Khasim Basha Shaik is the founder and editor of Seniors Secrets. He spends his time digging through Medicare plan documents, government sources and the fine print, so readers can compare their options without the jargon. Every guide here links to its sources, and we update posts when the rules or numbers change. Seniors Secrets offers research and education, not licensed insurance or medical advice, so please confirm plan details with Medicare.gov or a licensed advisor before enrolling.

To be clear about what we are and are not: Khasim is not a licensed insurance agent, broker, doctor, nurse, pharmacist or financial advisor, and Seniors Secrets does not sell insurance or enroll anyone in a plan. We are researchers and explainers. When a decision depends on your personal situation, we point you to the people who can give you official or professional answers.

What we cover

  • Medicare — Parts A, B, C (Medicare Advantage) and D, Medigap, enrollment periods, costs, coverage questions and appeals.
  • Social Security & money help — Social Security rules and payment dates, Medicare Savings Programs, Extra Help, and other benefits many people qualify for but never claim.
  • Senior health — common conditions, screenings, vaccines and what Medicare covers for them.
  • Nutrition and balance & fitness — practical, evidence-based guidance for staying strong and independent.

How we research

  • Primary sources first. We start with official sources such as Medicare.gov, CMS.gov, SSA.gov, the National Institute on Aging and the CDC, and peer-reviewed research for health topics.
  • Link to the source. Our goal is for every guide to link to the documents it relies on, so you can check the details yourself. Older posts are being updated to meet this standard.
  • Update when things change. Medicare and Social Security figures change every year. We revise posts when new official numbers are published and show the date a post was last updated.

Independence and advertising

Seniors Secrets is free to read and is supported by advertising. Advertisers do not choose our topics or review our articles before publication, and we do not accept payment to recommend a specific insurance plan, product or company. If we ever use affiliate links, we will label them clearly.

Where to get official or personal help

  • Medicare: Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
  • Free, unbiased Medicare counseling: your State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) at shiphelp.org.
  • Social Security: SSA.gov or 1-800-772-1213.
  • Health questions: your doctor, pharmacist or other licensed health professional.

Corrections and contact

If you spot an error or something that is out of date, please tell us through our Contact page. We review every correction request and update the article when we confirm a mistake.
